A group of construction companies asked Congress to institutionalize the “Build, Build, Build” program to prepare the country for the fourth industrial revolution.
The Philippine Overseas Construction Board, one of the more active groups supporting the BBB program, expressed hope that Congress would pass a law to make the program more stable.
POCB chairman Isidro Consunji said the infrastructure program should be able to transcend administrations and should be long enough to see that the projects were delivered.
“It has been this way that every time there is a new leadership in the government, ongoing programs were discontinued because a new program will be enforced. This is a waste of money and time,” he said.
The Trade Department launched in 2019 the Construction Industry Roadmap to welcome the golden age in infrastructure development and construction.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the roadmap aimed to ensure that ongoing and pipeline infrastructure projects would be delivered until 2030.
