CAAP confers ‘compliance’ permit to MIAA

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has received a permanent Aerodrome Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The certificate, numbered AGA-C-06-2023 issued this month, confirms that the NAIA has satisfied the CAAP’s required standards.

Certified aerodromes in the Philippines are required to have an acceptable safety management system in place.

The MIAA, now under the supervision of its newly appointed general manager Eric Jose Castro Ines, expressed enthusiasm for the achievement, highlighting its focus on improving operational efficiency, safety, security, and passenger experience.

”The journey to this milestone began in 2015 with a temporary certificate obtained in December 2017,” the document read.

MIAA’s Safety Management System Office diligently monitored compliance, achieving a 90.69 percent effective compliance score in March 2021.

The certification reflected improvements at NAIA, such as runway system enhancements, modernization of air traffic control technologies, robust safety and security protocols, and improvements in passenger facilities and services.

The MIAA attributes the certification to the hard work and dedication of the entire airport team, and the “unwavering support” of airport stakeholders, partners, and CAAP.

The MIAA commits to strictly adherE to the Aerodrome Certificate terms and conditions, monitoring compliances, and maintaining the highest level of safety moving forward, Ines said.
