Recently appointed Jose Rizal University coach Louie Gonzalez is taking over from San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua as president of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines.
Chua, also the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel governor in the PBA and a PABL Grand Slam coach, is stepping down after succeeding former PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa to the post less than three years ago. He will remain an active member of the association.
“I believe it’s time for a new man to lead BCAP, one who can devote more time in the pursuit of the goals and direction set by our predecessors for our local coaches,” Chua said. “BCAP is in good hands with Coach Louie.”
A BCAP statement read: “Coach Louie’s continued involvement in grassroots development and active coaching in the college ranks will bring a lot of positive transitional changes in the learning processes of our local coaches.”
