Marcos directs LGUs to brace for Super Typhoon ‘Leon’

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday directed local government units (LGUs) in areas expected to be affected by Super Typhoon “Leon” to prepare for the storm’s possible impact.

“Unfortunately, it looks like another one (tropical cyclone) is coming our way,” Mr. Marcos said, urging officials to strengthen preparations ahead of the storm.

“So let’s get ready for it,” he added.

The Philippines was recently hit by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine,” which killed at least 145 individuals across several regions.

Meanwhile, Kristine’s damage was estimated at P2.84 billion for agriculture and P3.62 billion for infrastructure, with an additional P32.62 million reported for irrigation facilities.

State weather bureau PAGASA advises residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and heed local authorities’ warnings as Leon approaches.
