Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya – Nueva Vizcaya lone district Rep. Luisa “Banti” Lloren Cuaresma filed her certificate of candidacy to formalize her comeback bid as governor under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Cuaresma, a former three-term governor of Nueva Vizcaya from 2004 until 2013, will be graduating from the 19th Congress next year.
She also served as the province’s vice governor from 1998 to 2004, and Bambang town mayor from 1989 to 1998.
In an interview with the media, the 69-year-old Cuaresma said: “I still have the willingness to serve my province in the form of public service to my constituents. It is my bottom line, that’s why I filed my certificate of candidacy to serve as governor once more.”
“I had been in the public service for a very long time but I feel the need to create my own legacy. Age is only a number. It’s the dedication that matters,” she added.
Lawyer Edgardo Cruz Balgos of Lakas-CMD will be Cuaresma’s running mate.Balgos is a last termer Sangguniang Panlalawigan Senior Board Member and a human rights lawyer.
