The local government of Malay, Aklan, initiated the implementation of a unified ticketing system in Boracay on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Under Executive Order No. 32, issued by Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista, tourists are now required to pay environmental and terminal fees through the Boracay app or eBoracay platform. Foreign tourists will pay P300 for environmental fees and P100 for terminal fees, while domestic tourists will pay P100 for both. Aklan residents with valid IDs are exempt.
“This mandatory payment, effective immediately, is part of our broader plan for a unified ticketing system for Boracay to ease travel,” Bautista stated.
The unified ticketing concept was first discussed during the Boracay-Caticlan Sustainable Development Council meeting in April, aiming to integrate boat ticket purchases, currently priced at P50, into the system. The goal is to replace the current manual payment process at Caticlan, which often results in long queues.
By digitizing the ticketing process, the local government hopes to reduce processing time, improve revenue collection, and contribute to Boracay’s environmental sustainability.
