Sky Shot (Lamborghini out of Juggling Act), masterfully ridden by Jeffril T. Zarate, went wire-to-wire to snatch the PHILRACOM Classic at the Santa Ana Park last Sunday beating highly touted opponents Boss Emong and Super Swerte.
After an impressive workout time of 1:37' over a mile at the Naic, Cavite track recently, he proved once and for all that this was no fluke by clocking 2:05.2 (23'-24'-25'-24'-27') with no real threat coming from the opponents and with plenty to spare over the 2000-meter distance.
Boss Emong and Super Swerte took second and third, with Spandau Ballet in tow for fourth placing.
Edward Vincent Diokno, owner of Sky Shot was elated with the victory.
"To God be the glory. God is good, always sa nangyaring karera. Sana period na, hindi na comma. Para matapos na ang kahit anong issue. Nabigyan at nakasaksi ng magandang laban ang bayang karerista, kanino man po sila nakakampi o nakapanig. Sa ganitong mga karera, makikita natin na nabubuhay ulit ang sigla at gigil ng mga racing afficionados sa ating Sport of Kings. Let's just put it that way. Kabayo lang ang naglalaban, hindi kasama ang tao at damdamin. God bless us all."
With the win, Sky Shot's connections pocketed the top prize of P1.2-million, while Boss Emong, Super Swerte, and Spandau Ballet took home P400 thousand, P200 thousand, and P100 thousand, respectively.
In the P1.5-million Philracom Three-Year-Old Sprint Race, Bravo (Oh Oh Seven out of S Class) eked out a win over long shot Chrome Platter bagging the P900 thousand prize that goes with the win. He finished the 1000-meter distance with a clocking of 12'-21'-25 for an impressive total of 59 seconds.
