SB19 is transcending the genre that positioned them to become the formidable stars that they are now.

“The song is for our parents who serve as our guidance and direction in life. Mapa is short for mama and papa. Mapa is map in English and without our parents, we wouldn’t be here right now. They are our guide,” Pablo told Manila Standard Entertainment in a virtual interview.

“We released this song to show gratitude and appreciation for helping us survive all the challenges and difficulties that we’ve encountered growing up,” Pablo added.

Released last Sunday, “Mapa” is SB19’s follow-up single to “What,” which has now garnered 10 million views on Youtube.

Days before the official announcement for the new single, the five-member group was included in the nominees for the Top Social Artist category for this year’s edition of Billboard Music Awards. They are nominated along with some of the world’s most celebrated pop acts BTS, Blackpink, Seventeen, and Ariana Grande.

“We can’t thank just one person for the success we are experiencing right now. We’ve reached this far because of a group effort and the support of the people who rally for us,” Pablo stated.

“Of course, ATin is also instrumental to our success. They’ve been with us since day one. We are inspired to do our best because of them,” he carried on.

Released via Sony Music Philippines, “Mapa,” is the second single off SB19’s upcoming album, the follow-up to their debut album, Get In The Zone.
