The conduct and results of the elections of the newly created Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. last Monday does sit well with the leadership of the Philippine Volleyball Federation.
The outcome of the polls and the provisional recognitiocan of the PNVFI has led to the withdrawal of recognition of the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc. and the PVF by the Philippine Olympic Committee General Assembly.
“This is to categorically and in the strongest possible terms reject the conduct and results of the elections conducted and facilitated by members holding lofty positions in the highest echelon of Philippine sports, favoring individuals who have nothing but disdain to the only Philippine volleyball organization focused on grassroots development, the PVF,” said Cantada.
Cantada expressed his thoughts a day after the POC gave its nod to the PNVFI during Wednesday’s gathering at the Grand Hyatt Hotel inside the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
During the polls, Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara was elected president of the PNVF and the proceedings were supervised by the POC.
The new elections were done following orders from the International Volleyball Federation.
“These individuals have tried their worst in their efforts to eliminate the PVF from the face of the earth. They tried their first power grab in 2015 and was successful until the FIVB through its General Assembly decided in 2018 to deny the proposal to exclude the PVF from its roster of member federations and denied affiliation to LVPI,” added Cantada.
During the meeting, some members of the POC questioned the polls, including Robert Bachmann of squash, Philip Ella Juico of athletics and Monico Puentevella of weightlifting.
They believe that Suzara as head of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee has not complied with the request of the previous POC administration to submit the audited financial statements of the country’s hosting of the SEA Games last year.
“It is 2021 and they are at it again, even falsely claiming that the FIVB ordered the creation of a new organization. On the second day after the election, the POC General Assembly convened without the benefit of due notice of meeting and agenda,” said Cantada.
