James de los Santos continued his winning ways, and snatched another gold medal win in the fifth edition of the SportData eTournament World Series over the weekend.
Thinking of a better way execute the unsu form, the 30-year-old de los Santos had a better of overall score over Swiss rival Matias Domont, 24.9-23.7 in claiming the title in the fifth leg finals of the individual male seniors event.
With the help of Japanese coach Masa Saito, de los Santos earned his 24th straight medal since he started competing online when the lockdowns started last March.
“Used my final kata, Unsu. Coach Masa always reminded me to keep my stances lower and to execute proper timing in between techniques to reach the maximum capacity,” said de los Santos.
De los Santos made it to the finals after he disposed of Silvio Cerone-Biagioni, 24.4-24.1, in the semifinals.
Last week, de los Santos was not in the best of shape, but he still managed to come up with a great presentation in the finals of the third leg of the Golden League Karate eTournament.
His resolve be to be at his best paid off, as the 30-year-old de los Santos went on earn his 23rd straight gold medal for the year.
A 25.7-24.3 win over United States rival Alfredo Bustamante sealed the deal for de lo Santos, who again used the difficult Unsu form.
A total of 11,520 points is now credited to de los Santos, who increased his ranking points at the no. 1 spot of the world rankings.
Earlier, de los Santos got past German Lukas Grimm, 24.4-23.2 in the quarterfinals.
“I’m widening the gap even further in the eKata world rankings since this e-tournament is nearly quadruple the amount of ranking points. Forward is the only way to go,” said de los Santos.
