Ayo appeals indefinite suspension

For former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers' head coach Aldin Ayo, getting slapped with an indefinite ban feels "inappropriate" during theses times.

And this is why Ayo will seek to appeal the punishment that the Board of Trustees of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines handed him last week.

"I deeply feel that the indefinite ban imposed by the UAAP Board against me is not appropriate under the circumstances. I will seek a reconsideration of such sanction," wrote Ayo in a statement issued Friday evening.

Last Wednesday, Ayo was penalized by the BOT, for allegedly holding training activities on Sorsogon without getting the proper go-signal from concerned authorities.

Last week, Ayo had already stepped down from his UST post, along with assistant coaches McJour Luib and Jinino Manansala. He did it ahead of the BOT meeting.

Since the controversy surrounding UST began, five players have quit the team.

UST officials are expected to assemble a coaching staff that will take the place of Ayo and his staff this coming week.
