POWER QUARTET. XOXO is a group of powerhouse performers composed of Lyra, Dani, Riel, and Mel.

Coming from the all-original singing competition The Clash, these new generation divas, composed of Riel, Dani, Lyra, and Mel, are raring to show the public their superb vocals and impressive dance moves.

“It feels overwhelming that we are launching this single, we recorded it a day before ECQ and we feel that it’s a pleasant gift for the people who have been supporting our group since we debut last year,” Riel told Manila Standard Entertainment in an online interview.

“We’re kind of feel nervous, too, for the reaction and feedback that we would get from this song,” she added.

The single was composed by Kiko Salazar to showcase the group’s talent and edgy personalities with its irresistible harmony. The group said they wanted the listeners to be introduced to the kind of sound they can produce while they are not performing on stage.

Talking about the message that the song carries, Dani shared that they want to empower fellow women and encourage them to embrace all kinds of beauty through the song.

“We want to inspire people who are not feeling good and confident with themselves, those who think that they are not perfect or they don’t fit in our society’s so-called standard. We want to show them that it is okay to be different and each of us has our own kind of beauty,” the young singer emphasized.

Though the song was recorded before the implementation enhanced community quarantine, the group admitted that it was still challenging to prepare for their single’s dance choreography.

“We shared some ideas on how the whole choreography will work out based on the song. It’s a powerful song so the steps and routines should go along too. We also started practicing at home and send individual videos. It’s the new normal style,” Lyra shared adding that they were able to pull it off with the help of their choreographer, RM Cortez.

Apart from celebrating their first year as a group, the girls are stoked for their first nomination in Awit Awards and for the support they are getting from their fanbase, which they call XOldiers.

Mel expressed her gratitude to the people who trust and support XOXO since day one.

“We have come a long way together and our experiences have strengthened our bond. We’ve been friends since our The Clash days but we became much closer when we started working as a group,” Mel expressed.

The rising girl group lists Spice Girls as one of their influences. Though each member has individual idols, the Spice Girls inspires them to create an image that banks on women empowerment.

From GMA Music, “XOXO,” the debut single, is available for downloading and streaming beginning today on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and other digital stores worldwide.
