A two-week Modified Localized Quarantine (MLQ) was imposed in areas of Barangay Lower Bicutan in Taguig City where testing continues to find COVID-19 cases.
The city government has decided to lift the strict lockdown status in Lower Bicutan’s Puroks 5 and 6, but placed selected areas under MLQ beginning today until July 15.
The covered areas are:
• Dalampasigan Area in Purok 5
• Barangay Street, Purok 6-A; I. Reyes Street, Purok 6-B; K-9 Area, Purok 6-D; and Mauling Creek Area in Purok 6
Meanwhile, the city government has temporarily closed several establishments found not compliant to health standards set by members of the Safe City Task Force.
“While it is not in the city government’s best interest for businesses to be closed down, it must be clear to everyone that we will always value the lives of the residents of Taguig more than the revenue raised from the operations of non-compliant establishments,” said Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano.
“Our primary duty as the local government is to protect and keep safe the people of Taguig.”
Cayetano said the city government’s policy of temporarily shutting down establishments that do not adhere to the safety and health protocols has been disseminated from the start as these protocols are necessary in order to save lives and contain the spread of the virus.
“For those who are reckless and irresponsible, we want to be very clear — you must work within the guidelines set by public health experts to ensure the safety of the general public or face the full force of the law. Complaining about it on social media but not doing the actual work to keep your establishment safe, will not work,” he said.
