Toyota PH’s premier motorsports event promises a new format, activities and more; kickoff leg on July 13
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is kicking its racing program into high gear, announcing the 10th season of its premier motorsports event, now rebranded as the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup).
The TGR Philippine Cup kicks off its first of three legs this July 13 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga, open to the public! The event signifies a new chapter in Philippine racing, building upon the success of the previous TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Vios Cup.
Launched in 2014, TMP’s racing series aimed to bring the thrill of motorsports closer to Filipino fans by inviting professional and amateur racers to compete in the locally-made Toyota Vios. Now in its 10th edition, the event is expanding to provide ever-better experiences for spectators, with more activities and a revamped format.
The TGR Philippine Cup will feature sprint races across three categories – Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting – to determine the best in Philippine motorsports. Joining the Sporting Class as part of the TGR Philippines team is actor and host Ryan Agoncillo, while actor Troy Montero continues his bid for the Super Sporting championship.
Newcomers to the circuit race include celebrity, influencer, and media racers who have been promoted from the previous Autocross Challenge to the new Novice Class. Making their debuts are Reph Bangsil, Lexi Mendiola, sim racer Russel Reyes, and media personalities Pablo Salapantan, Jose Altoveros, Jamil Lacuna, and John Rey San Diego.
Fans can also look forward to a thrilling driving exhibition by professional drifters using the GR 86, as well as the opportunity to win a shotgun ride experience. The event will feature freebies, official GR merchandise, GR road cars on display and available for test drives, and a special live stage performance.
