Marcos eyes better supply chain for the Philippines

President Marcos emphasized the need to overhaul the country’s supply chain to enhance farmers’ livelihoods and ensure a stable food supply.

Speaking on Friday, President Marcos highlighted the importance of reducing transport costs and improving cold storage facilities.

“There are still many things that need fixing. We really need to improve the supply chain, especially lowering the transport costs. This includes not only the farm-to-market roads, but also the ports, especially the agricultural ports because they are very expensive,” he said.

“And also, the cold storage, so the fish won’t go bad, the other products harvested by our farmers won’t go bad either. That’s why we still have a lot to do,” he added.

The President also stressed the value of contract farming to boost production and secure farmers’ incomes.

“So, basically, it’s like part of the answer we talked about earlier that if he has a contract in contract farming, he really won’t sell the land and they will really use it because they have income, they have a livelihood,” President Marcos stated.

During his visit, he distributed e-titles and Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to 4,271 agrarian reform beneficiaries, supporting the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
