Holding events which can be finished within a 45-day period is being worked out by organizers of the 84th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
League officials said this is their goal, now that they will implement a bubble-type of setup from within the campuses of all eight member universities.
League president Emmanuel Calanog of Season 84 host De La Salle University said the schools will be bracing for a quadruple header three times a week, for a period of one-and-a half months, starting
“We will be playing as with previous season, three times a week, and all teams will be in a bubble,”said Calanog, with men’s basketball being the first event on tap.
Calanog said they won’t be able to keep their athletes too long inside a bubble setup, since it might affect them physically and emotionally.
All games will be be livestreamed by TV5 and aired on Cignal TV as well.
Competitions in men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and cheerdance are expected to get under way next month, now that many student-athletes have successfully gone into bubble training in their respective campuses.
No competitions were held for the last two years after the league decided to close down its campuses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And because no uncontrolled incidents of COVID-19 infections have been reported, the league was inspired to restart the season in the last week of March.
