Known for directing well-loved television series such as Maalala Mo Kaya, La Luna Sangre, and Love Thy Woman, to name a few, Jerry Lopez Sineneng returns to the small screen with another riveting story, leaving audiences wanting more.
Now a member of the ever-growing Kapuso family, Sineneng, who signed with GMA in November of last year, directed a first for the network with his suspense series Widows’ Web.
Although Sineneng had to work with a new team for a large project, he shared during an online media conference for the series that he couldn’t ask for anything more from the members of the Kapuso network.
“Mahirap man kasi malaki yung project pero naramdaman ko na agad ‘yong suporta at pag-welcome sa akin na para talaga akong bahagi ng pamilyang ito,” he happily said.
Heads of the network, on the other hand, are confident in Sineneng’s abilities and credentials to spearhead a momentous project such as Widows’ Web.
The series also marks the seasoned director’s first time working with GMA stars Vaness del Moral, Ashley Ortega, and Pauline Ortega. He is very much impressed with the actresses’ professionalism as they’re easy to work with, courteous, and considerate of the rules the director has set.
“We had an agreement before we started, like coming to the set on time and being ready, wala silang bine-break. Ang gagaan nila katrabaho,” the director said.
Apart from meeting new faces, Sineneng also encountered old friends during the production of the upcoming series as one of the main characters is played by veteran actress Carmina Villaroel. Both Jerry and Carmina worked with each other several times on earlier projects.
Carmina shared that she feels honored to work alongside the renowned director for his first series in GMA-7. She even messaged Jerry via Facebook to personally welcome him to the Kapuso network. And even though it’s been years since they last worked together, the actress remains excited to work with the director again.
“Ngayon na nakita na namin ‘yong some of the scenes we did, mas lalo akong na-excite,” Carmina said.
Per her last request after Babawiin Ko Ang Lahat, Carmina continues to play an antagonizing role. However, her character in Widows’ Web isn’t your run-of-the-mill kontrabida. She plays Barbara Sagrado, the older sister of Alexander Sagrado III (Ryan Eigenmann). She’s elegant, meticulous, and will do everything she can for her family.
Widows’ Web revolves around the lives of four women, played by Carmina, Pauline, Ashley, and Vaness, as they try to unearth the truth behind a gruesome accident that changed the course of their lives forever, the murder of Alexander.
Each of the four women is involved in Alex’s life in one way or another. But with his death, their true intentions are questioned as some of their deepest, darkest secrets came to light with a high-profile case investigation.
Joining the cast of GMA’s first “suspense-serye” are actors Adrian Alandy, Arthur Solinap, Dave Bornea, EA Guzman, and more.
Widows’ Web’ premieres tonight at 8:50n on GMA’s Telebabad.
