Columbian Dyip routs Blackwater

Columbian Dyip got back on the winning track with a systematic demolition of Blackwater, 102-90, to notch a much needed win in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Friday night.

The triumvirate of Rashawn McCarthy, CJ Perez and Khapri Alston led the charge once again for the aspiring Dyip.

McCarthy took home team-high honors with 25 points while Perez and Alston each scored 24 markers with the latter adding 20 rebounds for a double-double.

Behind the trio’s offensive exploits, Columbian gained an early lead that set the tone for the rest of the contest.

The Dyip was off to a rousing start, opening a double-digit lead right away, 28-18, at the end of one.

Gaining its bearings, Columbian protected its lead in the middle quarters, heading into the fourth with a 77-67 advantage.

Nothing changed in the payoff period as the Dyip remained in the driver’s seat until securing the smooth victory.

Columbian enjoyed its biggest lead of 15 points multiple times in the final 12 minutes.

The Dyip improved to 3-2 to get itself back in the thick of things in the upper echelon of the standings.

On the other side, the Elite suffered a critical defeat, falling to 1-3 near the bottom of the heap.

The returning Aaron Fuller top scored with 26 points and 10 rebounds for his double-double in the losing cause for Blackwater.
