Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados made a triumphant homecoming in Cebu after winning the crown in June.
Ganados, who hails from Talisay, Cebu, was met with a boisterous, supportive Cebuanos during the motorcade around downtown Cebu City, on Aug. 24, where she wore the pink phoenix gown by Cary Santiago that won for her the best in long gown award, and in the meet-and-greet held at SM Seaside City Cebu, wearing a red dress, where she was almost mobbed by her proud fans.
“Leap of faith and belief in yourself. I took a leap of faith and trusted them. I believed in them, my fellow Cebuanos. All of you are my strength in this battle,” said Ganados when asked by meet-and-greet host Maria Gigante on where she got her strength to succeed.
“I now have bigger shoes to fill as Miss Universe Philippines. I would still continue on my cause of ‘activation and elderly care’ and I urge everyone to have the heart and compassion to serve the elderlies, to touch their lives, make them smile and happy,” Ganados said on her personal platform and advocacy.
The 23-year-old Tourism graduate has been seen as not so outspoken among the new batch of Bb. Pilipinas winners. This she attributed to her being an introvert and shy by nature.
“My biggest competitor is myself. I may be hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. I’m not perfect, I have my flaws, and I just have to embrace them, to stay true to myself,” Ganados said in fielding reporters’ queries.
“I can’t wait to meet the candidates of Miss Universe. I have started online communications with Miss Mexico and I hope to do with the others,” Ganados said adding that she would be happy to have the pageant held in the country in front of her fellow Cebuanos.
Ganados, who also graced the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival at Cebu City Sports Complex held on Sunday, thanked her fans in her post taking pride in bringing home to Cebu the Miss Universe Philippines crown after 52 years, referring to fellow Cebuana, actress Pilar Pilapil who won the title in 1967.
