Logistics provider taps GCash for driver payments

Lalamove Philippines tapped GCash to secure payments for their partner drivers.

“Lalamove is the pioneer in on-demand logistics services in the Philippines and have been leading the industry since 2016. We’re very happy to have partnered with GCash as they were able to make our partner driver disbursements more efficient,” said Lalamove managing director Dannah Marajocon.

“We’re definitely looking forward to exploring more opportunities with them,” she said.

Lalamove is looking forward to expanding its partnership with GCash by adopting more services such as offering GCash QR acceptance for delivery payments.

Mynt president and chief executive Anthony Thomas said GCash’s payroll solution was designed for quick and easy disbursements for small and medium enterprises and even big corporations. Mynt or Globe Fintech Innovations Inc. is the operator of mobile money service GCash.

“This service features a GCash MasterCard, which doubles as an ATM card and a debit card all in one, available for use in over 5,000 POS terminals and over 12,000 ATMs nationwide,” he said.

The GCash App empowers users to be able to use money in the app real-time: customers can purchase discounted prepaid load, send money to other GCash users for free, pay utility bills without actually setting foot in payment centers or pay using GCash QR in over 60,000 GCash partner merchants nationwide, including restaurants, apparel and other product and service brands.

The GCash Mastercard is a card directly linked to a customer’s GCash App, and can be used for swipe, ATM and online transactions.

Thomas said GCash and Lalamove share the same startup mindset.

“We’re very happy to continue working with them on working towards a more convenient and financially-inclusive employee payroll ecosystem,” he said.

GCash has more than 16,000 partner outlets nationwide such as 7-Eleven, SM Business Centers, Robinsons Business Centers, Puregold branches and Villarica Pawnshop branches.

Originally known as EasyVan, Lalamove was launched to satisfy a specific logistical need—van hiring. Started in Hong Kong in December 2013, Lalamove now operates in more than 100 cities across China and Southeast Asia.

Today, the company matches 15,000,000 registered customers with a pool of 2,000,000 drivers of vans, trucks and motorcycles. Lalamove is also the leading app-based logistics provider in the Philippines.
