Ramos, Ganzon fastest in Clark Global City Duathlon 2019

Clark Global City—Joshua Ramos of DEROSA-CORSA and former national standout Alexandra Ganzon emerged as the fastest male and female finishers, respectively, of the Clark Global City Duathlon 2019 co-presented by Smart held this past Sunday.

 Ramos completed the long distance 6km run—60km bike—4km race with the best time of 2 hours, 27 minutes and 16 seconds to grab the male 18-24 age-group title as well. 

Former national duathlon champion Alexandra Ganzon, racing in the female 30-34 age group category, crossed the finish barely two minutes after Ramos in 2:29:14. 

Hot on Ganzon’s heels was her male 30-34 counterpart, Oscar Miguel Mapalo of 2Wheel Nation Cycling club in 2:30:00. 

Mapalo’s fellow age grouper Luigi Victor Robles of FIT.PH, rounded out the Top 3 fastest males with a time of 2:31:39.

 Joining Ganzon for the overall fastest females in the event supported by Clark Global City, Udenna Group, NLEX-SCTEX Metro Pacific Tollways, Standard Insurance, Garmin, Pocari Sweat, Sip Purified Water, and Royce Hotel and Casino were triathletes Bernadette Tan as second fastest female and 1st place in the 45-49 age group with 2:51:15 and female 50-above champion Celma Hitalia with 2:57:25.

 “We’re happy with the turnout of this race and considering the feedback from the participants, we’d be happy to support another edition next year if one gets planned,” said NLEX Sports coach Allan Gregorio. 

Gregorio and Wilfredo A. Placino Vice-Chairman and President of Global Gateway Development Corporation were on hand to award the winners in the post-race ceremony. 

 Other long-distance champions of the race which kicked off on the grounds of Clark Global City before making its way through a breezy stretch of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) then back to CGC were Louie Cupino and Kathrina Lagunsad (25-29 age group), Bryan Lucas and Patricia Margaret Serios (35-39), Juayn Baugbog and Laarni De Guzman (40-44), Edward Luna (male 45-49), Emmanie Mondero (male 50-54), Jelle Beekma (55-59), and Demosthenes Ydia (60-above).

 The Sprint Distance 3km run – 30km bike – 3km run, was ruled by Erika Nicole Burgos and ElizVon Quintella (15-19), Celma Marie Constantino and Jan Dennis Borbolla (20-29), Ma. Lourdes Cabero and Melchor Ortiguerra (30-39), Grace Zamora and Danny Dexter Beltran (40-49), Trixie Halaguena (50-above), Ruben Ercilla (50-59) and Larry Ronquillo (60-above). Actress Kim Chiu, a duathlon enthusiast, further honed her multisport experience in the sprint distance to place 4th among her fellow competitors in the 20-29 age group.

3D2GO emerged as the all-male relay champion, while Team Godspeed Multisports topped the mixed relay. Sydney’s Clan was the lone winner in the all-female relay.
