There seems to be no better cartoon character to usher in the Year of the Earth Pig than the adorable Peppa Pig.
Peppa Pig was present during the Chinese New Year celebrations at SM City North Edsa. During the affair, The Block’s Atrium was transformed into Peppa Pig’s Chinese Garden with a pagoda, bridge, and golden tree, as well as Chinese lanterns, floral decorations, and bamboo trees.
For the occasion, Peppa Pig and her family: Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog, and Candy Cat greeted mall-goers dressed in traditional cheongsams at the Paifang, a gateway symbolizing longevity, health, luck, and happiness.
Peppa’s Grandpa Pig and Granny Pig were also on hand to invite guests to their Chinese-styled pagoda. This was connected by the bridge leading to the legendary Money Tree.
During the festivities, there was a meet and greet sessions with Peppa, a live Chinese New Year Astrological forecast by international feng shui master Marites Allen, and traditional lion and dragon dances, not only at North Edsa but also at SM City Fairview, Manila, San Lazaro, and Sta. Mesa.
There was also an Oriental Market, a treasure trove of lucky charms for good luck, blessings, protection, and good fortune. Shoppers got their hand on Yin Yang charms; bead, crystal, and fortune bracelets; Buddhas, spiritual icons, bells and wind chimes, moneybags, and golden pigs.
