Color me coral

The lively and vibrant coral hue is Pantone Color Institute’s Color of the Year this 2019.

Pantone has chosen the “vibrant, yet mellow” Living Coral, in reaction to “the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life.” The color experts of the influential company intend to bring back the warmth—the authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy—through this “playful” color.

“Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral,” said Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman.

She continued, “With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord.”

Living Coral is a warm pink-orange shade with golden undertones. While the color may be a bit bright and bold for others, it remains relatively easy to inject into this year’s wardrobe.
