North Cavite towns observe peaceful New Year fetes

General Trias City—This city and its neighboring towns of Noveleta, Amadeo, Tanza and Naic in northern Cavite province celebrated a generally peaceful New Year’s Eve, police officials said.

Police Supt. Paul Bometivo of GenTri PNP confirmed that the locality celebrated New Year with no casualties and no untoward incidents.

Bometivo attributed it to the local governments’ peace and order campaign, the national ban on firecrackers, and the massive information dissemination of the local police, the GenTri Bureau of Fire Protection, and GenTri City Health Office days before the New Year celebration.

GenTri Ppolice also confiscated prohibited firecrackers from firecracker vendors during the inspection at the public market in Barangay Sampalukan early Monday.

Amadeo town also reported no incidents, revealed Police Sr. Insp. Xelacor Garcia, acting police chief.

Amadeo police also distributed free horns to kids in Poblacion to welcome the New Year in the upland Coffee Capital of the Philippines.

In Noveleta, local police chief Sr. Insp. Rosalino Panlaqui said the 16 villages in the area quietly celebrated the New Year.

In Naic, police chief Supt. Janet Arinabo said they patrolled the town all night long to ensure the safety of the residents.

In Tanza. Mayor Yuri Pacumio installed a firecracker zone for the community fireworks display in four areas of the town to ensure the safety of the residents’ revelries.

The fireworks areas, located at Barangay Julugan Fishport Center, Poblacion 1, Bagtas Circle Park in Barangay Bagtas, and at Barangay Amaya 5 Basketbal Court drew thousands of onlookers for the colorful nighttime display.
