Networking- a number of Pinoys cringe at the sound of the very word in its rather obscure context here in the country.
Leaving a bitter taste in their mouths, many denounce network marketing- even branding multilevel marketing (MLM) companies as a mere scam, nothing but prowling marketers looking for a quick buck off of people with some dime to shell out.
From "Pawer" to "Open minded ka ba?", pop culture has ostracized networking and networkers in general, into comedic limbo reserved for one-off memes and reference material for comedic relief. Put bluntly, networking has some pretty bad rap in the country.
Funny thing is, the narrative is unique not only to the Philippines.
"The bad reputation given to MLM companies is the same anywhere," said Marc Walker, co-founder of Xyngular, a weight loss and nutritional supplement company which products are sold via MLM which recently expanded here in the Philippines.
"The reason why it's not for everybody is that bad people go into bad companies and good people going into bad companies," he explained in a recent talk with the media at the Marco Polo Ortigas.
Founded in 2009, Xyngular features health-changing, wellness-driven products designed to help people look better, feel better, and live better.
Xyngular’s product development system ensures Xyngular formulas feature the purest, most potent ingredients and are manufactured to the highest level of quality.
Their simple weight loss and business systems empower people to become the best version of themselves. Xyngular brands itself as a company "founded on family values with a supportive community of purpose-driven individuals dedicated to helping people become more."
They currently sell products through a network of sales leaders in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Philippines- its third largest market.
"(The people that failed in MLM) don’t understand it, they don’t explore, they go in and are a part of a bad company," reiterates Curtis Call, Xyngular Chief Sales Officer during the meet and greet with the press.
"Our goal is to become a shining example how to do it right," he added.
And become one they surely did.
Since 2015, its revenue has tripled to $100 million, landing it at No. 99 on the 2018 Direct Selling News Global 100 list. Xyngular has also been recognized by Direct Selling News and by Inc. 500 for its "strong company culture" while Chief Executive Officer Russ Fletcher was a 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year finalist.
"Our goal is to be a global force in providing nutritional supplement products, but we want to do it in a way that everybody is benefitted. Here at Xyngular, we are a family, and we help each other every step of the way," said Fletcher.
The "big three"- Walker, Call, and Fletcher were all present here in the country on December 8 for their annual Xyngfest event to represent their international leadership team.
Present as well in the event were Ms. Josie Medina together with husband Joe, Xyngular's Executive Distributor, Grace Oliva; Gold Director, and Platinum Executive Nicky Rempel- one of Xyngular's Million Dollar Earners.
They stood as inspiration for the Philippine distributors in the one-day event- the second one to be hosted by Xyngular Philippines, likewise a certified member of the Health and Dietary Supplement Association of the Philippines (HADSAP) as well as the Direct Sellers Association of the Philippines.
The PH Corporate Team is led by it's General Manager Elizabeth "Beth" Anana who was also present and hosted the intimate talk with the media together with Field Development Manager Ricky Magadia and Corporate Services Officer Leslie Rodil who helped invite the press.
To date, there are 26 Million Dollar Earners for Xyngular, a testament to the success of the company's "comp plan with a heart" so to speak.
"The reason why so many people think that every MLM company is a scam is that those companies push the money to the top," explained Fletcher. "Our compensation plan is pushing the money downward."
To that, Walker adds, "Our job is to really make every person successful as they can be. In the end, it's all about the people, we are a company of people helping people."
Walker together with Rudy Revak came together nearly ten years ago after decades as executives at other companies in the direct selling industry. "We wanted Xyngular to be a values-rich organization that gave customers and distributors a chance to start changing their lives on day one."
They may put premium on their people, but their products speak for themselves.
"Our products are never done, we always want to improve on the products we have, constantly reviewing and refining," said Fletcher of their award-winning weight loss and nutritional supplement products led by their refreshing,10-calorie, on-the-go drink mix Trimstix.
In truth, their Xyngular Ultimate Kit- which includes Trimstix meal replacement, Lean Meal, Advanced Omega, Xyng, XR2, Accelerate, Probiotix and access to Xander, a virtual weight loss coaching tool- has been chosen as a 2018 Weight Management Finalist by SupplySide CPG Editor’s Choice Award.
Though if the group may brag, the biggest achievement for them is not the awards, but the mere 2% rate of return for their products, which is why they say they are confident in giving a 30-day money back guarantee on their products.
“If we looked back 50 years from now on what the company’s value has been to the world, we would want it to be a company that improved lives in every community that it touched," said Fletcher.
"Many lives will be made better with our presence here and we look forward to a future in the Philippines," Call meanwhile added at the tail end of the media sitdown.
"Here at Xyngualr, we let people do more than what they can imagine. Come with us, join us on this journey," closed Walker.
