The antigraft court earlier convicted the former first lady of graft for using her position in the Cabinet of her husband Ferdinand and her being member of the then Batasang Pambansa to maintain bank accounts in Switzerland.

She deposited P300,000 in addition to the legal fees that the court imposed.

Earlier, Marcos posted a separate P150,000 bail that the court imposed in exchange for not being detained for not attending the promulgation of the decision of the graft case against her.

Marcos, 89, said her “multiple organ infirmities” prevented her from attending the promulgation but later on said she was not aware of the schedule of the proceeding.

Marcos had decided to withdraw her gubernatorial bid in 2019 following her conviction. Her grandson Matthew Marcos Manotoc, will run in her stead.

Her daughter Imee is running for senator; while her only son Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has a pending protest against Vice President Leni Robredo who defeated him by a small margin in the 2016 elections.
