Korean, Chinese deported by BI authorities

A KOREAN and a Chinese national, both wanted by authorities in their own countries, were ordered deported following their arrest in separate operations in Las Piñas and Manila, the Bureau of Immigration said Thursday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the two aliens would be deported for being undesirable and undocumented aliens after the passports of the foreigners were    revoked by their governments.

“We reiterate our warning to all foreign criminals who are hiding in the country. The long arm of the law will eventually catch you and we will send you back to your homelands so you will be meted punishment for your crimes,” Morente said.

BI FSU chief Bobby Raquepo identified the Korean as Go Yongsung, and the Chinese national as Lian Lilong.

Go was arrested    at his residence along Vanessa Street in Las Piñas City and wanted for large-scale fraud and was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Suwon district court in Korea.

Documents from Korean authorities state that between December 2015 to June 2016, Go conspired with five other suspects in defrauding other Koreans of more than 37 billion won or equivalent to US$33 million, in a pyramiding scam using as front a company which they operated in Pasay City.

They managed to swindle their victims by promising that their investments would earn huge profits if they buy bitcoins that were non-existent and had no value.

The Chinese embassy, meanwhile, sought the arrest of Lian who was allegedly wanted by Beijing authorities for involvement in economic crimes.

He was arrested last Oct. 1 inside his room at the Lido de Paris Hotel in Binondo, Manila.

It was learned that Lian and four of his cohorts, who are also Chinese, were already issued a summary deportation order by the BI for being fugitives from justice.

The four others remain at large and are the object of manhunt by FSU operatives.
