Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya—The Japanese International Cooperation Agency has funded the construction of a P16.8 million road project to further boost the agricultural economy of the community.
The road project will be constructed in the upland barangay of Nantawakan.
“It was a dream come true. With this project, our farmers will have more ease in bringing their products to the market,” said Juanita Dumayahon, a 73-year-old resident.
She said the 5.7-kilometer tire path is a fulfillment of the government’s commitment to uplift the lives of the indigenous people in the upland areas of Nueva Vizcaya.
The recent groundbreaking program was attended by Gov. Carlos Padilla, Mayor Alberto Bumulo, Department of Environment and Natural Resources—Forest Land Management Project Dir. Marlon Atienza and former Gov. Ruth Padilla.
The project, which is being implemented under the Agri-Forestry Support Facilities of the DENR-FLMP, is expected to be completed in March 2019.
The tirepath project will also benefit villagers of sitios Upper Parai, Domang and Bingo.
“The project will not only benefit the farmers in the faster delivery of their agricultural product but it will also help boost the agri-tourism industry of the municipality,” Padilla said.
He said three more upland towns of Nueva Vizcaya are also expected to receive the same project from Jica.
Padilla said the other recipients are Kayapa town with P14.1 million for a 7.1-km tire path, Ambaguio town with P19 million for the construction of Ammoweg Bridge, and Dupax del Norte town with P17 million for a 3.2-km tirepath.
