Adama Diakhite struck with 30 points for the defending champion Diliman College Blue Dragons in their 76-71 stopping of the St. Francis of Assissi Doves in the senior division of the ongoing 24th Fr. Martin Cup summer tournament.
Diakhite’s layup came on top of an 8-2 run in the last 1:37 and handed the Blue Dragons their second straight win at the St. Placid gymnasium inside the San Beda-Mendiola campus in Manila.
They were ahead by a point when the Blue Dragons went on the offensive in the final two minutes and took a 72-65 cushion off Diakhite’s efforts in this cagefest which is supported by Cocolife.
In the women’s action, the Enderun College Lady Titans drew 15 points from Mary Grace Callang and upended the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 41-37.
Kate Marcos added 11 points for the Lady Titans, who went on to stay unbeaten after three games.
National University, led by Samantha Harada and three others with 11 points, prevailed over University of Santo Tomas, 79-51.
Jack Danielle Animam, Flory Ceno and Nabalan also provided 11 points in leading NU to their secomd triumph in three games.
Earlier, Kean Baclaan unloaded 21 points for the defending champion San Sebastian Staglets in their 83-70 beating of First City Providential College of Bulacan, 83-70, in the junior division.
Rafael Are contributed 15 points for the Staglets cause, and as they picked up their first triumph in four matches.
In other matches, Paco Catholic Foundation prevailed over San Beda-Rizal B, 67-55, while St. Patrick School won over San Beda-Manila, 97-71.
