Four BIFF fighters surrender to government troops

Four fighters of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered to the Mechanized troops in Ampatuan municipality, Maguindanao on April 10.

The four were presented to Major General Arnel Delavega, commander of the Joint Task Force Zampelan and to Maguindanao Gov. Ismael “Toto” Mangudadatu, in a simple rites at the 1st Mech Battalion headquarters in Ampatuan yesterday Wednesday.

 The surrenderees turned over their crew high powered firearms which include a rocket propelled grenade, an M16 rifle, a Squad Automatic Weapon and a Garrand rifle.

“The surrenderees felt that it is time for them to return to the fold of law after seeing that the President is serious about his campaign to attain peace in Mindanao,” said MGen Arnel Delavega.

“We encourage other members of the BIFF to also surrender as this is a rare chance,” he added. “I am positive that the others will also soon follow.”
