ADAMSON University and University of Santo Tomas clash one final time to determine the UAAP Season 80 softball champions today at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
First pitch is at 9 a.m.
The Lady Falcons displayed tremendous poise to beat the Tigresses, 8-5, last Friday and send the best-of-three championship series to a rubber match.
UST nipped Adamson University, 4-3, in the Finals opener.
The Lady Falcons hope to hurdle their biggest test in their long reign, as the San Marcelino-based softbelles are gunning for an eighth consecutive crown.
A victory will follow up Adamson University’s title conquest against De La Salle in baseball last Friday, ending an eight-year title drought.
It was also the Falcons, who became the last that team swept the softball and baseball championship in the 2008-09 season.
With the momentum shifting to Adamson University, coach Ana Santiago hopes that all the gains it achieved in last Friday’s series-tying win won’t go down the drain.
“Sa pagkakapanalo namin (sa Game 2), mag-iiba mentality ng mga bata,” said Santiago.
It has been so long since Tigresses ruled the league since 2009-10, when Aiza dela Torre led them to their first-ever title, as coach Sandy Barredo is hoping that they will finally pull through against the Lady Falcons.
“UST is still a tough team. Nasa kanila ang No. 1 pitcher in the Philippines,” said Santiago, referring to Ann Antolihao. “Kailangang mag-tama kami uli. Second, huwag bibitaw ang mga bata. Walang pahinga.”
The Lady Falcons have a bevy of batters that will pose problems for Antolihao if everyone clicked in this ultimate game.
