The Valenzuela City government proudly showcased their eco-tourism places to the candidates of Miss Earth 2017 during their visit.
According to tourism officer and museum curator Jonathan Balsamo, the girls were “really fascinated” to discover a hidden paradise in the city “where one can experience peace and tranquility.”
Among the Miss Earth candidates who visited Valenzuela were Yorbriele Ninoska Vasquez Alvarez, Venezuela; Kaylee Carlberg, US Virgin Islands; Elizabeth Lee, Singapore and Faith Gennevieve Zawadi Landman, of The Netherlands.
Balsamo said, the candidates had time to relax and experience the rustic life in the city’s fishing village of Tagalag. “They tried pitching the line to catch fish in D’ Cove Pavilion and Fishing Ground, a private property developed into a tourist attraction that reflects what describes Barangay Tagalag—a rural attraction within an urban area.”
Barangay Tagalag is surrounded with several fishponds and fishing resorts that offer an accessible getaway for families, friends and workmates alike.
According to Singapore’s contestant, the fishing experience was among her favorite during the city tour.
The candidates were also taken to the city museum, Valenzuela City People’s Park and was also given the chance to interact with the children at the Valenzuela City Special Education Center.
Miss Netherlands was very impressed on how the city government supports the needs of special children.
First district councilor and former Binibining Pilipinas International Jennifer Pingree-Esplana joined the group tour in Valenzuela.
