The Courageous Class

Kenneth Cole, for the fourth consecutive season, embraces The Courageous Class—those determined individuals who overcome life’s challenges to become the inspiring role models they were meant to be.

The Courageous Class is an idea borne of Kenneth Cole’s legacy as an aspirational, urban style brand with a fearless voice for social justice that empowers many to “look good, for good.”

The Courageous Class looks for inspiration through getting involved. They care about their communities and each other, and don’t let where they have come from, or the adversity they have faced, define their potential. The Courageous Class believes the real models are the role models.

The images were shot in Brooklyn, New York by Matthew Brookes. The campaign features the work of celebrated stylist Tracey Nicholson, hair by David von Cannon, and makeup by Chris Colbeck.

Corinne Foxx

Corinne is an actress, model, entrepreneur, and social activist, dedicated to using her brand and image to uplift and inspire others through philanthropy and devoted advocacy of nonprofit organizations.

Specifically, Corinne works openly and candidly as an ambassador for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). She fearlessly speaks about her struggle with anxiety, in an effort to destigmatize mental illness and create open conversations about mental healthcare. Corinne’s dedication to philanthropy does not stop with NAMI. She actively advocates for the United Nations foundation, Girl Up!, working closely with its advisory board to create powerful initiatives.

Kenneth Cole Fall 2017 season’s The Courageous Class is composed of Casil McArthur, Nathaniel Dam, Corinne Foxx, and Chloe Norgaard.

One of Corinne’s influential pledges to uplifting communities has been the establishment of her own online magazine and marketplace, Foxxtales. The website builds a creative community for like-minded, diversity-focused millennials; while also offering an online marketplace, supporting female-run artisan businesses.

Casil McArthur

Casil is a male model, singer, activist, and artist who is transgender. Coming from a small town in Colorado, Casil started modeling as a girl at age 10 in Singapore and Los Angeles. At the age of 16, after visiting all of the women’s modeling agencies in New York, Casil felt he couldn’t live as a female anymore and made his final decision to transition from female to male, officially changing his name to “Casil McArthur.” Several months later, he was signed to Soul Artist Management and started his career as a male model.

His first photoshoot was for Interview magazine. Shortly after that, he was introduced to esteemed photographer Collier Schorr. In a year, Collier shot Casil for 40 pages, including the cover of RE:edition Magazine, Another Man Magazine, Milk Makeup cosmetics, and a Saint Laurent campaign. Casil then met Steven Meisel, who shot him for Vogue Italia and a 20-page feature story in W magazine. The next landmark job for Casil came in December 2016 when Casil walked his first show as a male in the Coach 75thanniversary fashion show in New York City.

When he is not modeling, Casil enjoys being back home in Estes, Colorado, spending time with friends, and working as a barista in the Stanley Hotel. Today he is setting his sights on his next goals, with his focus on trans rights. He hopes to be a role model for trans teens, especially those transitioning from male to female. To date, he is the only female-to-male trans model of note in the business.

Chloe Norgaard

Chloe is an American/Danish model with international success. She is known for her Redken, Uniqlo, Forever 21, and GAP campaigns, as well as for walking the runways of Rodarte, Philipp Plein, Desigual, and Moschino. Her magazine work includes Vogue Japan, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, Glamour, Nylon, and i-D Magazine. A student at The New School for Art Therapy and Psychology, she is also an avid traveler who is drawn to colors, which is evident in her ever changing hair color. (She spray-painted her hair blue when she was in the first grade and has now made a career out of her fixation with bleach.)

Chloe has been passionate about wildflowers since she was a child living in Texas. A true lover of nature, she was recently inspired to start the charity Wildflower Boom, which provides food to bees (and butterflies) by “guerilla planting” mini sanctuaries everywhere. Typically, hives don’t thrive in the city due to constant habitat loss. Chloe considers it a natural art project that is aesthetically pleasing and beneficial for the environment.

Nathaniel Dam

Nathaniel is a model and a volunteer for underserved communities. He’s first generation American with parents who migrated to the US from Vietnam. His Buddhist parents have always instilled the spirit of volunteerism in Nathaniel by taking him to Vietnam to help in a monastery, and here in the US at Deer Park monastery, which stems from a Buddhist group that helps Asian-American kids assimilate into American society yet still preserve their Buddhist way of life.

Nathaniel now encourages others to volunteer and give back, and regularly works for the social volunteer app called Deed. Recently, he’s been working in a soup kitchen in NYC in support of the homeless.

In the Philippines, Kenneth Cole is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Alabang Town Center, B7 Bonifacio High Street, Power Plant Mall, Rustan’s Makati, SM Mall of Asia, and TriNoma.
