THE Office of the Ombudsman has indicted a former Bulacan representative for involvement in the pork barrel fund scam.
The Ombudsman ordered the filing of three counts of graft charges and three counts of malversation of public funds against Ma. Victoria Sy-Alvarado before the Sandiganbayan.
Also charged were officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region III, Minda Brigoli, Adelina Apostol, Mely Pangilinan and Maria Piedra, and Nestor Custodio, Cooperative Rural Bank of Bulacan general manager.
According to the Ombudsman, the charges were the first noted Priority Development Assistance Fund-related case that involved a private financial entity, the rural bank headed by Custodio that became the recipient of a portion of Alvarado’s 2007 pork barrel fund.
