Filipino cyclists join London bike festival

THE Philippine delegation knows no limits as it rides off to London to join the Prudential RideLondon—an international cycling festival.

Included in this year’s delegation are professional riders Ismael Grospe Jr., the second-best young rider in Ronda Pilipinas 2017, and Ronnel Hualda, who has represented the country and won in several local and international tournaments since 2001.

Grospe Jr., a rising 18-year-old cyclist from Nueva Ecija, has won various amateur cycling events in the country.

Presently, he is a member of the Junior Development Team for Go for Gold Philippines.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old Hualda from Tarlac has been a member of the Philippine National Team for five years and a professional rider for LPGMA-American Vinyl for four years.

Completing the delegation are Pru Life UK employees and cycling employees Franco Amian and Marvin Pacis.

“We have a set of four cyclists, who all have strength, skill and spirit necessary to overcome the challenges of the 100-mile marathon. But more importantly, we have a set of four advocates who forward not only the cause of the charities but also the vision of creating an environment that encourages safe cycling,” said Pru Life UK Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga.

Prudential RideLondon, one of the world’s greatest cycling festivals, is appropriately themed #ReasonToRide as parts of its proceeds will be donated to Bloodwise, UK’s leading blood cancer research charity, and Save the Children, along with several other charity organizations.

British life insurer Pru Life UK bannered this advocacy when it organized PRUride to London, a cycling festival featuring criterium  races for seasoned cyclists and various biking activities held the previous year.

Prudential RideLondon 2017 will be held from July 28 to 30 in London.
