BAGUIO CITY—The City Council approved two separate resolutions interposing no objection to the requests of operators of various electronic bingo in the city to operate traditional and electronic bingo games, as well as other amusement games authorized by the State-owned Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. or PAGCOR in different parts of the city, despite the vehement opposition raised by anti-gambling advocates.
During the council’s regular session on May 22, the legislative body passed Resolutions No. 176 and 176-A, series of 2017, which practically permission to Bingo Palace Corp. and the Highland Gaming Corp. to operate e-bingo parlors at SM City Baguio and the Baguio Center Mall Building, respectively.
Earlier, the council also approved the operation of an electronic bingo outlet to be established at the Maharlika Livelihood Center.
Members of the Baguio-Benguet Multi-Sectoral Group, however, lashed out at the councilors and asked them to consider their position paper against the operation of legal and illegal gambling activities in the city. They said the council disregarded the signatures of bona fide residents of the different barangays against the operation of electronic bingo games.
