2k cops to protect schools

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—The Calabarzon police will deploy about 2,000 policemen to secure schools and schoolchildren for the start of the school year next week, regional police director Chief Supt. Ma. O Aplasca said Friday.

“We are all ready for security measures in this coming  classes in Calabarzon on June 5, 2017,” Aplasca said.

He said the policemen will provide security coverage, traffic management, and other related public safety services to ensure the safety of students, members of the educational institutions, and other stakeholders for the duration of the school year.

The Calabarzon police are also deploying policemen at seaports, transport terminals, malls, business centers and other areas of convergence regionwide, Aplasca added.

Special dedicated police teams were also organized in all police stations specifically to conduct mobile and foot patrols along major routes and highways and within the immediate vicinity of school premises.

Gen. Aplasca also said they have established almost 700 Police Assistance Desks or PADs in major school campuses and clustered schools in the region in coordination with school authorities and local security forces.

Continuous anti-criminality operations shall be conducted in crime-prone areas before, during and after the opening of classes. These activities, Aplasca said, is supported by dedicated intelligence teams for crime prevention and suppression efforts and maintenance of peace and order and public safety.

Organized non-governmental organizations and civic groups were also tapped to assist in security, traffic management and other related safety services.
