PLDT Inc. said its fixed-line business posted a double-digit growth in revenues in the first quarter amid aggressive fiber optic rollout and affordable broadband plans.
PLDT Home reported total revenues of P7.8 billion in January to March, up by 12 percent from last year’s P7 billion. Of the total, voice revenues amounted to P3.02 billion, up by 6 percent, while data revenue went up 16 percent to P4.78 billion.
The company’s fixed-line business had 3.77 million subscribers as of end-March, or 10 percent higher than 3.43 million last year.
PLDT chairman and chief executive Manuel Pangilinan said the highest growth was seen in PLDT Home’s data services as the company pushed stronger and world-class internet connection.
PLDT’s fiber-to-the-home service has passed three million homes as of end-March, on track to reach 4.4 million homes by yearend.
