Alcala, Salvacion conquer HEAD tilt in Naga

ANGELICA Alcala and top seed Prince Luis Salvacion conquered the seventh leg of 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit by snaring two titles each recently at the start of Luzon leg at the Civic Center Tennis Club in Naga City.

The third seed Alcala blasted Patricia Ann Corporal, 6-4, 6-1, to bag the 16-and-under girls’ singles title before winning over No. 1 seed Lila Salvacion, 6-0, 6-2, in the 18-and-under girls’ singles finale for her second trophy in the satellite tournament organized by HEAD Philippine distributor Dynamic Sports.

Salvacion defeated Prince Patrick Luis Salvacion, 6-3, 6-2, for the 12-and-under boys’ singles crown and then claimed his second title by posting a walkover win over Lance Guevarra in the 14-and-under boys’ singles crown.  

Top seed Kidlat Estogero blanked Paolo Esplana, 4-0, 4-0, to win the 10-and-under unisex singles’ title.

The tournament is supported by Chris Sports, the nationwide sports retail chain, Toalson strings, UBE Express, the Premium Airport Bus Service, media partners People’s Television, Aksyon Sports, Business Mirror, Philippine Locale, Cook, Health and Fitness, Pilipino Mirror and Philippines Graphics.

The Naga leg was attended by more than 120 young players all over the Bicol region.

In other singles’ finals results, second seed Jennard Gonzales upset top seed Jerome Ignacio, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, for the 16-and-under boys’ singles’ crown and No. 1 seed Kurt Molina thrashed Jennard Gonzales, 7-6 (2), 6-2, for the 18-and-under boys’ singles’ title.  

Top seed Angeline Alcala bashed Maya Cabrera, 6-3, 6-0, to get the 12-and-under girls’ singles’ crown and Julia Ignacio outplayed Trish Romero, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, to pocket the 14-and-under girls’ singles’ title.

Meanwhile, the doubles’ event champions were Trishia Lagatuz and Julia Ignacio (14-and-under girls); Patrica Corporal and Lila Salvacion (18-and-under girls); Marlo Cornea and Rainier Lagatuz (14-and-under boys); and Kurt Molina and Jolo Basa (18-and-under boys).

The eighth leg of the satellite junior tennis circuit begins this week in Vigan.
