Convicted road rage killer Rolito Go is now a free man.
The Supreme Court has ordered his release from the New Bilibid Prison.
The ruling affirms the earlier decisions of the Court of Appeals and Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court where he filed a Petition for Habeas Corpus in 2014.
The CA and the RTC earlier declared that Go’s sentence already expired in August 2013 due to good conduct.
The Bureau of Corrections had insisted that Go’s jail term would expire in 2022.
In 1993, Go was sentenced to 40 years in prison by San Juan Regional Trial Court (RTC) for shooting De La Salle University student Eldon Maguan during a road rage in 1991.
He escaped from jail and was caught in 1996.
Go also got involved in a series of controversies wherein he was seen outside his prison cell on several instances.
