CONSUMER sentiment hit an all-time high of 2.5 percent for the third quarter this year from -6.4 percent in the second quarter due mainly to improvements in the peace and order condition in the country, results of the latest Consumer Expectations Survey by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas show.
Bangko Sentral Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo said in a briefing Friday it was the first time that consumer sentiment hit the positive territory since the survey started in the first quarter of 2007.
Other reasons for the positive sentiments were availability of more jobs, stable prices of prime commodities, anticipated increase in salaries, effective government policies, assumption into office of the new administration, pronounced campaigned against drugs, and assistance from the government such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
