Kia Asia Pacific recently celebrated a significant milestone with the inaugural 2024 Kia EV Day, held in Taiwan. Following the success of the global Kia EV Day in 2023, this event reinforced Kia’s commitment to sustainable mobility and showcased its current and upcoming electric vehicle (EV) lineup, including concept models.
The event highlighted Kia’s evolution since its rebranding in 2021, featuring a minimalist logo and a strong focus on inspiring the EV revolution. Among the key attractions was the first regional showcase of the Kia EV3, set to launch in select Asia Pacific countries in 2025. This compact SUV aims to meet growing demand for entry-level EVs while incorporating advanced technologies from Kia’s flagship EV9 SUV.
Ki Seok Ahn, President & CEO of Kia Asia Pacific, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “This inaugural EV Day is a testament to Kia’s unwavering dedication to sustainable mobility and our relentless commitment to driving the EV revolution forward. By prioritizing a customer-centric approach, we are not only meeting the demands of today’s consumers but also setting the stage for a greener tomorrow.”
The Kia EV3 is designed using the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy, featuring a sporty aesthetic with innovative technology, including Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) and an array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Additionally, Kia unveiled two concept vehicles: the Concept EV4, which embodies modern luxury and a spacious driver-centric design, and the Concept PV5, a Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) aimed at providing versatile mobility solutions.
The event also showcased Kia’s flagship EV9, which has received multiple awards, including the Supreme Winner at the 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year. Kia aims to expand its EV lineup across various price points, with a target of selling 1.6 million EVs annually by 2030.
