The Grammy Awards, the award-giving body for music, has named P-pop girl group BINI as one of the 12 rising girl groups in the world.
In an article released by the Grammy Awards, it acknowledged BINI’s significant contribution to the rise of P-pop across the globe.
“Amid K-pop’s global domination, Filipino pop—commonly known as Pinoy pop, or simply ‘P-pop’—is becoming one of the fastest-growing music markets. Leading the revolution are the eight women of BINI: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena,” the article stated.
It also noted the group’s achievements in bringing pride to the country, which earned them the title of the “Nation’s Girl Group.”
“First seen in ABS-CBN’s 2019 training program ‘Star Hunt Academy,’ BINI has captured Southeast Asia with EDM-driven pop production and a blend of English and Tagalog lyrics. As the first Filipino act to enter Spotify’s Top Artist Global Chart and to perform at the long-standing KCON festival, it’s no surprise they’ve been dubbed the ‘Nation’s Girl Group,’” it added.
The eight-member group is the only Filipino act included in the list, which also features FLO, VCHA, Kiss of Life, and BLACKSWAN.
