All sorts of things happen on a plane. You have to deal with many different people in a confined space, and most of them are in their own world. Sometimes, this leads to discomfort for others. You often see videos on the internet of people being asked to leave the plane. You would never think that the same thing could happen to you.

This is what Maria thought. She enjoyed watching these videos, but she never thought that someday it would happen to her. She was about to spend 14 hours in the air, waiting at her gate. She looked around at the people and wondered if any of them might cause a scene. Everything was quiet until it finally happened!

Categorizing people

She noticed a couple sitting next to each other. Observing their body language, she thought they might cause an unpleasant scene. Then she looked closely at a girl who appeared to be about her age.

This girl seemed to be sitting quietly in her seat, and Maria thought she definitely wouldn't cause any drama. She looked further, categorizing all the people around her.

Passing the time

There were still forty-five minutes until the gate would open. She had thought about the passengers for a long time, and now it was time to focus on her music for the remaining time. Maria found it lonely to travel alone, and she didn't want to start a conversation with a stranger. However, this would soon change.

Finally, the gate opened and a line formed. Maria stood in the middle of the line, and as usual, everyone was pushing, as if it made a difference to board first or last. There seemed to be a problem with a passenger's passport, causing discontent among the others.

An arrogant girl

It was the girl, about the same age as Maria. She raised her voice to the staff when her boarding pass didn't seem to work. The problem was quickly resolved, and now the girl was allowed to enter. The line finally started moving again, but it wasn't over yet.

Maria had misjudged the girl. She had believed that she wouldn't cause a scene, but after witnessing that incident, she had changed her mind. Maria was already not a fan of the girl's unpredictable behavior.

On the plane

The line moved forward, and after another ten minutes, it was Maria's turn to board. She walked through the narrow aisle, pulling her small suitcase behind her. She counted the seats and saw the girl she now disliked. She hoped to sit far away from her but ended up sitting right behind her.

As Maria was almost reaching her seat, their eyes met for a brief moment. The strange girl looked at Maria and gave her an arrogant look. Maria took a deep breath as she passed her by.

Maria realized that she was sitting right behind the girl and she rolled her eyes. She was almost afraid that there would be an incident. "Well, better than sitting next to her," she thought to herself. But even though she no longer made eye contact with her, things were about to get much worse.

The plane hadn't even taken off yet, and passengers were still entering and finding their seats. That's when the girl put her long brown hair over her seat. Maria frowned because the hair extended over her screen, down to the tray table, and right into her cup of water.

No one else noticed

Maria sighed and didn't know exactly what to do. In the end, she decided to wait a few minutes to see if the girl would move and remove her hair on her own. Maria looked around, searching for other passengers who could see what was happening. But no one had noticed yet.

Maria now had to take matters into her own hands, which made her extremely uncomfortable. She cleared her throat and hoped that the girl would remove her hair – otherwise, Maria would have to confront her. To her disappointment, the girl didn't budge.

Tapping on her shoulder

Maria leaned towards the aisle and tapped the girl's shoulder. "I'm really sorry, but your hair is hanging into my water," she said. Maria was met with silence. The girl was listening to music and Maria tapped her shoulder again to get her attention.

To her surprise, it turned out that the girl didn't even have headphones in her ears. It was becoming increasingly clear what type of person Maria was dealing with. The girl was deliberately ignoring her!

Maria didn't want to give up

Maria leaned back in her seat, confused and shocked. She didn't realize just how arrogant some people could be, and she wondered about the upbringing of the girl. She sighed, determined not to tolerate this behavior. She would find a way to make the girl move her hair.

Now, hopefully, the girl was aware that Maria was sitting next to a man who would probably help her. They chose intimidating topics to see if the girl would maybe move. Unfortunately, this didn't work.

Then Maria's seatmate went to the bathroom and made sure to give the girl a particularly stern look. Though he had made eye contact, the girl remained motionless. But this would soon change.

Carefree Girl

Maria's seatmate informed her about the lack of response and how the girl hadn't moved an inch. Maria didn't particularly enjoy confrontation, but she also didn't want to have hair in her water. How could someone be so disrespectful?

Her seatmate pointed out their plan again, but Maria wasn't entirely sure about the whole thing. She wanted to startle the girl, but didn't want to make a big scene out of it. Then the girl did something that made Maria's blood boil.

The girl also had to use the restroom, and on her way back, she gave Maria a smile filled with arrogance. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she wouldn't stop until they left the plane.

Maria asked the man next to her if he could execute the plan instead, but he shook his head. After all, it was Maria's problem, and she had to face it now – or at least wait for the right moment.

Maria looked around because she wanted to know if she had any other spectators. She felt observed, perhaps just because she had never done anything like this before. Her heart was racing, and her breathing became faster.

She reached into her handbag just as a flight attendant walked past her. Maria's movement paused, and she pretended as if nothing was going on. All of this was particularly stressful and unnecessary if the girl would simply remove her hair from Maria's tray table and screen.

Maria took a deep breath and contemplated whether now was the right time. The flight attendants had already served drinks to all the passengers and wouldn't return so soon. Now or never! Maria looked over her shoulder again.

First step

Maria reached into her bag and took something out, keeping it concealed so that no one could see. She still wasn't sure if she was truly going unnoticed. Maria didn't notice that on the other side of the aisle, there was a man who had been closely observing what was happening.

He had his phone in hand and was typing a long text furiously. He was obviously waiting for Maria to retaliate, and it wouldn't be much longer before something finally happened.

Not backing down

It was only a matter of time before Maria would execute her plan. Secretly, she imagined how the girl would react. Perhaps she would scream or curse. Maybe she would even cry and try to slap Maria in the face. Maria shrugged; she wouldn't back down now.

The girl in front of Maria got comfortable and changed her seating position. This caused her hair to move around Maria's water. The cup tipped over, and water spilled everywhere. Now, Maria's patience reached its breaking point.
