ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo has officially joined the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats with Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez administering his oath on Oct. 4 as the party’s 112th member in the House of Representatives.
Romualdez, the leader of the 300-plus-strong chamber and Lakas-CMD president, lauded Tulfo as a valuable addition, saying he is confident in the significant contributions Tulfo would bring to both the party and the nation.
“Rep. Erwin Tulfo is a tremendous asset to both our party and the nation, embodying not only seasoned public service but also courage and integrity,” he said.
Tulfo, a former journalist and Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development is known for his fearless, no-nonsense approach to public service and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of marginalized Filipinos.
He is currently a frontrunner in the Senate race for the May 2025 midterm elections.
“Cong. Erwin’s track record speaks for itself, and we are honored to welcome him into Lakas-CMD. His fearless advocacy for the underprivileged and commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Filipinos make him a perfect fit for our mission of nation-building,” Romualdez said.
He expressed optimism that Tulfo’s membership would bring fresh energy to the party at a critical time for governance.
