Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Secretary Larry Gadon is urging the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday to initiate a motu proprio proceeding of disbarment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Gadon, also a disbarred lawyer, asked the high court to act on his petition following Duterte’s controversial remarks against President Ferdinand Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“I really regret [supporting the Dutertes]… The statements of Vice President Sara are immature, it is very lacking in statesmanship and she does not study issues like in healthcare… She is totally detached from reality,” he told reporters in Filipino after filing.
In his complaint, Gadon cited the Vice President’s live press conference held via Zoom platform that the SC may take judicial notice.
He noted Duterte spewed expletives like and also categorically stated that she has talked to someone to kill the first couple and the Romualdez.
Such statements coming from the second highest official of the land, seen and heard by millions of Filipinos are undoubtedly illegal, immoral, and condemnable, according to him.
Gadon also called for Duterte’s resignation as Vice President, emphasizing he is sure she will be impeached by the next Congress.
To recall, the younger Duterte has a pending disbarment case before the SC after punching court sheriff Abe Andres, who was serving a demolition order in Davao City during her term as city mayor in 2011.
The SC unanimously disbarred Gadon in 2023 following a viral video clip, where he repeatedly cursed and uttered profane remarks against journalist Raissa Robles.
