The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) hosted the UN Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) to enhance peacekeeping readiness.
According to Colonel Xerxes Trinidad, Chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office, the visit was presided over by AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Arthur Cordura and is scheduled from November 17 to 23, 2024.
The UN AAV team will conduct a comprehensive assessment that includes both strategic and technical evaluations.
Key areas of focus for the assessment include personnel selection and training, equipment functionality, and the AFP’s capacity to sustain and support deployed forces effectively.
The AFP’s Major Services—the Army, Air Force, and Navy—are actively participating in this initiative, along with supporting units that specialize in logistics, intelligence, and operations.
The AAV presents a vital opportunity for the AFP to align its operations with global standards, thereby solidifying its role as a reliable partner in promoting peace and stability worldwide.
