The Philippine Navy officially commissioned and christened its 7th Acero-class Fast Attack Interdiction Craft-Missile (FAIC-M), named BRP Tomas Campo (PG-908).
This new FAIC-M honors Sgt. Tomas Campo, a Medal of Valor recipient from the Philippine Marine Corps’ Marine Battalion Landing Team 10 (MBLT-10) who saved 11 Marines before succumbing to enemy gunfire during an encounter in April 2000.
Like its six predecessors, BRP Tomas Campo is tasked to enhance the Philippine Navy’s capacity to secure the archipelago. Its speed, agility, and precision allow for rapid deployment and improved maritime interdiction capabilities.
The Commissioning and Christening Ceremony is a Navy tradition that symbolizes the breathing life into BRP Tomas Campo, which now stands as a vital addition to the fleet and a lasting tribute to Sgt. Tomas Campo’s heroic legacy.
Navy leadership extended gratitude to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Department of National Defense, and the shipbuilder for their contributions to the vessel’s completion.
