Aid for typhoon victims to hit P1.2 billion

Assistance provided to families impacted by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” and Super Typhoon “Leon” has reached a total of PHP 1,193,209,396.79, according to an update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) that was released on Tuesday.

To date, this aid has reached 513,846 families across 15 regions.

The NDRRMC estimates that approximately 2,240,862 families require assistance due to the aftermath of the two typhoons.

However, these figures are “still subject to validation,” and the final tally of families in need and those already assisted in certain regions has yet to be fully determined.

The combined impact of both typhoons has affected a total of 2,249,345 families, or approximately 8,847,888 individuals, in 12,216 barangays across 17 regions nationwide.

Of those affected, 48,146 families (194,272 individuals) are currently housed in 1,133 evacuation centers, while another 106,152 families (517,705 individuals) are receiving assistance outside these centers.

So far, 151 deaths have been reported, with 20 confirmed. Additionally, 130 people are reported injured; of these, 10 have been validated.

Furthermore, 21 individuals remain missing, with their status still under investigation.

Damage to housing is significant, with 217,425 homes affected across 16 regions. Of these homes, 182,622 are classified as “partially damaged,” while 33,803 are deemed “totally damaged.”

The estimated agricultural damage stands at PHP 4,881,317,507.24, while infrastructure losses are pegged at PHP 8,247,425,268.53.
