Top women leaders from around the world gathered in Manila to review progress and share best practices for implementing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda at the International Conference on Women, Peace, and Security (ICWPS).
Key discussions included Mali’s National Gender Policy and its efforts to empower women in peace processes, the UAE’s pioneering National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, and the Philippines’ gender-responsive budgeting initiatives.
Other notable contributions came from the UK, which highlighted its financial commitments to support the WPS agenda, and Libya, emphasizing women’s roles in promoting peace and stability.
The session concluded with a call for greater engagement of men as allies and underscored the need for sustainable funding to advance these goals.
The conference showcased the work of women leaders and peacebuilders in subsequent discussions and exhibits.
